Art and the Bensons Philosophy

We have long been known for our enduring dedication to Melbourne’s advancing art and design culture.  Maintaining our belief that fine art inspires innovation, stimulates our senses and reflects our society. Our previous landmark developments including C3, ALT and Solstice, all exhibit uniquely commissioned art and sculptures. Our current and future developments will continue to uphold this commitment.

Our Chairman, Elias Jreissati, believes art is a vital form of communication and expression, and belongs to a community that must be nurtured to ensure its preservation:

“Art, for me, is a way of communicating with the past and holding something in perpetuity.”

Perhaps most well-known for our residential development legacy, we are equally proud of our contribution to the communities we work with, including our Chairman’s numerous donations and artwork loans to the Australian arts community and various galleries. Most recently, he loaned View of Hobart Town with Mount Wellington in the background (1856) by Austrian artist Eugene von Guerard, to the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in September 2017. The painting is one of Australia’s most significant historical artworks and is one of only a few paintings depicting Tasmania known to exist by the renowned artist.

“Bensons has been a long-time supporter of the arts in Melbourne and many of our projects have reflected our appreciation of the creative spirit,” says our Chairman. And with our footprint now firmly planted in the Queensland property market with the development of Chevron One, our commitment to the arts will continue to transcend throughout the nation.

We strive to ensure our developments exemplify our unwavering commitment to design excellence and the arts community. As a result, we have made our appreciation for art well-known by featuring a collection of noteworthy pieces from distinguished artists throughout our projects.

Chevron One: Art has been selectively curated at Chevron One to reflect the vibrancy, energy and evolution of the Chevron Island community.  Organic in nature, yet varying in form, sculpture pieces from acclaimed international artists complement the building’s curved façade. James Parrett’s ‘M40’ masterpiece will sit poised as a distinct statement and Deborah Halpern’s vibrant mosaic duo ‘Bosom Woman’ and ‘the Lizard Queen’ will be nestled in Club One’s sculpture and yoga garden. Frank Malerba’s laser cut steel sculptures, will also adorn the landscaped areas. The distinctive illustrations of artist Ray Oranges have also been specially commissioned for this development and will decorate the walls of Club One areas.

C3: A rigorous selection process was undertaken to determine which prominent artist would enhance C3 Apartments’ design. Rowena Martinich was nominated to commission the bold and colourful art installation that sweeps up the exterior.

Levantine Hill: Iconic artwork from renowned and award-winning artists such as Whiteley, Storrier, Nolan, Streeton, Boyd, Lindsay, McCubbin grace the walls of our luxurious partner estate.
